Mother Nurture 2024

My mother and grandmothers were talented homemakers and skilled knitters. Using AI to depict animals crafted from yarn, this series explores themes of evolution and loss, reflecting on the shifting nature of craftsmanship and tradition.

Creating these pieces was a process of constant refinement. Using OpenAI’s DALL·E 3 model, I developed a series of prompts to generate consistent foundational images, which I then fine-tuned using traditional photo editing software. I used multiple AI upscaling tools to blend and polish the results until each image felt complete.

My years-long obsession with this process became a calming escape in the evenings and weekends. I imagine it felt much like how my mother and grandmothers felt while knitting.
